About me...!
I am a musician, teacher, mentor, music facilitator, and innovator. What I most love about music is the way it enables people to connect, communicate, and be creative. This is my passion, and this is what I do. During the lockdown I have done music within many different contexts, singing or teaching piano over the phone during Covid response befriending calls, writing songs with those going through emotional trauma, and hearing the joy of people sharing something beautiful in a dark time. I have found music to bring so much comfort and connection again, enabling people to process their emotions, tell their story, build relationships, and laugh again. I continue to explore this area of music and wellbeing support in both volunteer and freelance work.
I passionately believe that in order to keep teaching well, I must keep learning. At the moment I am pursuing a variety of CPD training, including level 2 BSL to aid communication with those who are deaf or have communication difficulties, working on a level 6 course in holistic health care, studying the use of music and movement techniques such as Kodaly and Dalcroze, training in performance and teaching diplomas, attending training days on music facilitation, and connecting with and learning from as many other talented teachers and music facilitators as possible. If there is something that will benefit any of my students that I am not already competent to teach, I am committed to learning the necessary skills and continually developing the quality of what I offer.
